Castling I

Oil on canvas, 60 x 90 cm, 2014. The exquisite sculpture of the Norwegian King Haakon VII has today its place outside the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo. Is ought to change places with the statue of the Swedish union king Karl Johan in front of the Royal Norwegian Castle. King Haakon VII was loved by his people. Through national Norwegian broadcast (NRK) he was recently elected the most important Norwegian in the last century. The statue of Karl Johan was a project initiated by his grandson. It is a well executed piece of art, but noone in Norway asked for it. Neither did anyone in Norway request the former French Marshall to become their king.
