Børge Kjeldstad

I am a Norwegian artist painter living in Trondheim. My works act like storytellers with their strong colour and figurativeness. Often my motifs are political, and sometimes I want my paintings to have the effect of a broadcaster or a baseball bat. At the same time I am occupied with their aesthetic qualities, and good taste and hand craft. Lastly, I try to load the paintings with the representation of a spirit that reaches beyond conceptual thought.

I received Sparebank1 Midt-Norges TÆL-grant in 2006 and funding from The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters in 2011. In 2010 I was selected to participate in the one-year pilot project Bedriftsutvikling for Kunstnere which teaches professional development for artists. I have used the project to explore the avant garde of art in such various areas as open source software development, female repression in Iran, and standing up against fascism.
